Bookstore open for local readers

When the The Next Chapter bookstore closed in 2012 in the Mequon Pavilions, Mequon was left without a local book store. But on Nov. 22, 2013, Book World located at 10920 N. Port Washington Road in Mequon opened its doors for people to pick out a bestseller or check out a wide variety of magazines from around the world.

Book World is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and on Sundays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is also an online store as well, so if the book a customer is looking for isn’t available they can place an order for it.

Tara Smith, employee at Book World, said she sees a variety of people when she comes in to work. When asked about the benefit to the community of Mequon, Smith said, “It’s a great resource and it has an excellent selection for children.”

“I love to read only when I have a good book. I have been to Book World with some of my friends and we looked at the magazines,” Betsy Bowen, freshman, said.

“Books open up a new world for us they give us a sense of hope, joy and a quiet place to turn to when we are feeling down,” Nicole Gauss, freshman and avid reader said.
