Amoria Nabors, junior, elaborates on the struggles of balancing school along with the weight of being a role model for her family. She mentions that her day starts at 5 a.m, well before the mornings begin for many students at Homestead because she has to not only get herself ready but also her little brother. She states that “its just her and her mom taking care of her little family” and it has helped to shape her into the person she is today. This has been her reality for majority of her life, so she sees it not so much as a task but as a way of showing up for her mother. Through it all, Amoria has shown that strength is not always loud, but it is in the quiet, everyday moments of showing up for those who mean the most to you.
